Shaaron Ainsworth makes the list of 'Classic Papers' that have stood the test of time

We are delighted to announce that Prof Shaaron Ainsworth, LSRI Director, has recently made the list of Google Scholar’s Classic Papers, or ‘articles that have stood the test of time’. The paper is recognised for making an original contribution to educational research as well as being highly-cited.

Published in Learning & Instruction in 2006, “DeFT: A conceptual framework for considering learning with multiple representations” describe the advantages of learning with more than one representation (e.g. diagram, equation, graph) but balances this with consideration of what complex tasks a learner must achieve to do so. If it has got a take home message, it is this: “always have a good reason for using multiple representations and design the activities to support learners to realize it.”
